The Father’s Life in the Son, the Son’s Life in us Christ living in us, God’s life in us

Romans 8:9-11

Have you ever paused to consider the passages of Scripture wherein the Spirit encourages, equips and communicates to us that God the Father, in the Person of His Son, Jesus Christ, lives and moves within those who are born again? (2 Corinthians 13:5). An astonishing truth, yes?,But it isn’t easy to grasp. Not only is Jesus Christ alive today, but through God’s Holy Spirit—called the “Spirit of Christ” in Romans 8:9—He lives and dwells within every child of God. Thus because God is indivisible in His being and attributes, the very dynamic full life, power and existence of the Almighty, the triune Godhead is vitally alive, residing in, and willing and moving and working in the believer!

The life of Christ in the Christian is our hope of eternal glory. The apostle Paul called the indwelling of Christ a great mystery: “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Dwell on this: Because Jesus is perfect humanity, He gathers in Himself, in His person, every human who places their faith in Him alone. And because He is in His person full, undivided and unmitigated deity, that is, as the eternal Son, He is fully God and participates eternally in the life, relationship and love of the trinity, He gathers in Himself believers into union with Him and so into the divine glorious life and joy of Father, Son and Spirit. And thus Christ in us is the hope of not just a little glory sprinkled out like seasoning on top of a steak, but the full undivided glory of the living God taking up residence in us!

So let us explore what it means to have “Christ in you, the hope of glory”.
