If you were entrusted with spectacular, invaluable special knowledge (like that found in the movie, National Treasure), how would you behave, who would you trust, and how would your life be different? Paul tells Timothy that because of the priceless treasure of apostolic doctrine he’s been charged with, he must hold to the character of a soldier, an elite Praetorian Guard. But he also says that faithfulness is the character of Christ, and Timothy is to run according to the rules because Christ is at the end of the race with reward in hand.
