The Christian and the Law of God. Pt. 1 Romans 2:12-16

Romans 2:12-16

Coming to a good understanding of the right relationship between the Christian and God’s Law in general, and the Law of Moses in particular, is of central importance to growth in not only our appreciation of our great salvation, but in our daily spiritual walk with the Lord, and our general outlook on the Scriptures and life. One need only turn on Christian radio or a podcast, listen to a sermon, or pick up a theology book to get an earful (or eyeful) of varied and sometimes strident views on this topic. These range all the way from, “Keep the Law of God or go to hell” all the way to the other extreme of, “The Christian has no relationship with the Law of God at all. After all, we are under grace and not Law.”
My hope today is modest, in that I’d like to lay out the chalk-lines of the beginnings of a basic framework of this key issue in Christian doctrine. In other words, to nudge our thinking and understanding into the warm light of reasoning and revelation of God’s Word just a bit and perhaps peel back the fuzzy, dim, confusing, cottony edges a bit in the process.
