Prepare the way for the Messiah! John the Baptist

Luke 3:1-6

As we move forward into ch 3 in the gospel of Luke, we are jumped some 34 or so years forward. Herod the Great is long dead, in 4BC. Both Jesus and John, the son of Zacharias the Levite priest, are now adults, in their early 30’s. John who we come to know as John the Baptist for his actions in the Jordan river and surrounding areas, begins a powerful prophetic preaching ministry, in fulfillment of Malachi 3:1 and on, written 4 centuries before the events recorded in Luke 3.
