How the well-dressed Christian walks in the light of the rapture
Living up our salvation in the now, the present tense, pt4
Titus 2:11-3:8
Living the life of the believer in this age between the 1st coming of Christ, when the eternal God the Son came down, stepping into time and took on human flesh and the nature of a man, and the coming rapture into glory of the church, is both wonderful and at the same time a tremendous challenge! It raises real questions:
How should I live? How should I walk as a believer, and how should we walk as believers together? What does a productive and God-pleasing life look like? How should I make decisions big and small that reflect my status as a believer in Jesus in the “now” with a view to the soon coming “then”?
1 Thess 5:9 delivers a fresh and comforting breeze to lift our hearts. This passage puts our race-shod feet in the starting blocks, and points our eyes at the finish line in the race of life: For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.
