Body Life Series #01, Romans 12:1-8, God’s grace to us in our union with Christ

Body Life Series

Romans 12:1-8
What does it mean to be in the Body of Christ? How do we get put there, and kept there? What happens in and to a sinner when they are saved, given eternal life, and placed into the Body of Christ? What spiritual privileges does that bring to the believer? What duties, obligations and demands are placed on the believer by Christ as the Head on virtue of being made a member of His very own body? How does the heavenly Christ relate to the world in a real and substantial way via the Body of Christ and its works and working? These are fascinating and weighty questions that beg for answers! Why? Because they help to answer the question: Why am I here on earth?
The New Testament, and especially the scriptures penned by the apostle Paul, weave together for us two complimentary great truths, two spiritual facts to create a divine tapestry designed by the great Artist to show forth His glory on earth and in heaven. These two magnificent truths, like silver and gold threads, are doctrines peculiar to and defining of the church, not being found in the Old Testament. They are, the Body of Christ, including how we are to live out Body Life, and the unique grace of being In Christ.
Lord God, please help us, your blood-bought children, in today’s sermon and in the Sundays to come, to see, relish and manifest in our lives together your glory in these two great, interwoven doctrines.
