We’re continuing to dig for valuable gold ore in that period of time between our Savior’s resurrection and His ascension. In the last chapter of John’s gospel we find a surprising nugget. One of surprises there is we find the connection between the now resurrected and now immortal Shepherd, and the founding and commission of the vital office of shepherd of Christ’s flock, the church. Jesus uses Peter as the exemplar of shepherd, and some 3 decades later, an older and wiser Peter under inspiration of the Spirit, turns and using Jesus’ charge to him, now shapes and informs the commission of shepherds of Christ’s flock, the church.

Let’s take a quick look at a matter so close to the heart of the resurrected Jesus… the shepherding of His flock.
