As Moses Lifted up the Serpent in the Desert

Sunday, April 8th 2018  |  John 3:12-18

Jesus told Nicodemus, as recorded in John 3, that “just as (in the same manner) Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert” – so that every sin-striken, deadly snake-bit, helpless Israelite who merely looked in faith to the serpent lifted up on a stake and made to look as if it were a deadly live one, so the son of Man must be lifted up so that whoever believes/looks to him will have eternal life. Jesus here tells us what saving faith is, and is not here.

He also tells us in the same breath what, “God SO loved the world” means in v16.
